did you try to verify the file cache integrity through steam game properties?

have you tried to update your video card drivers? that is usually a problem.. does it boot up and give you an error msg before closing back out? if so what is the error msg?

go in program files/steam/steamapps/username/counter-strikesource/cstrike/sound and delete the files in admin_plugin folder

Had this issue before and it fixed my problem

registry key fix, fix system errors on restart, defrag?

or delete the cstrike folder... then log off steam and restart.. you will lose all maps and downloads but won't take as long as complete reinstall

i tried that but it still wont work, i noticed i was missing a lot of files in the cstrike folder, but when i delete the folder it comes back and its still missing the files

i did that, i don't know wtf is wrong. I reset the computer to 5 or so days ago and css worked then the next day it didn't so i reset it to the same date last night and it worked and it's still workign today... i was missing a shit load of files in my cstrike folder that wouldnt redownload for some reason
