Ill make a real quick tip sheet for getting better at competition gameplay.
KNOW THE MAPS!!!!!!
Its very crucial that you know the maps front and back. You should be able to see then be blinded and be able to know and get out of where you are successfully.
Find out smoke and flash placements.
This is crucial for site takeovers and rushes as well as fakes. There are several tricks in maps that allow you to throw them over the skybox in certain spots and you can deploy smokes or pop flashes in crucial spots. Examples of this would be on Dust 2 at long double doors CT Side. Tossing a flash over the wall as you come out of the doors and head to long will flash short a and make them think your coming short.
another would he on strike. on T side you can throw a smoke from spawn and by the time you get there window is smoked out likely eliminating the opposing AWPer.
WATCH DEMOS!!!!!
This is a very helpful tool that you can watch over and over by yourself or as a team and point things out. You can learn gay spots, flash and smoke points and many other things from the pros.

Playing.
There are a few diff ways and all are effective. Deathmatch, Scrim/ESEA, vanilla servers, etc
Gungame can be used as well to hone certain skills. Ig gungame is played regularly it can hinder your competition game.
STRAT EXECUTION
first you need to have strats, the better they are the better youll do if executed properly.
The strats need to be executed precisely and as perfect as possible. Previously in CAL we had to make around 20 dry runs of each strat to get it down. It helps alot.
IMPROV
Another crucial part of Competition play is to be able to make quick smart decisions on the fly. If a strat goes bad, the strat caller needs to really be able to do this. Its also important for individual players to be able to do the same incase you get put in a spot.
Predict.
Correctly predicting what the other team is going to do is a learned skill. For example. If we played a Pro team after 3 -5 rounds they would almost be able to predict our moves and strats.
Chemistry.
Its very important that the team has chemistry together. You need to know each others play style and thinking patterns. If you see your teamate in a situation you need to know what he is going to do so you can aid them the best way possible.
