i'm gonna be getting some new ram for my computer i'm still kinda new to the computer building thing and i could use a little help.. here is what i have right now.. i've kinda threw this computer together over the last year buying what i could when i could so don't flame me
cpu: intel Q9550 dual core quad - 2.83 ghz - 1333 fsb - 8.5x
mobo: MSI P7N sli fi - 1333 fsb - ddr2
psu: iceburg 680w
hdd: 640gb 7200rpm, 250gb 7200rpm..
so if i want to run my RAM at 1:1 i would get ddr2 667.. and prolly need 4 to 8 gigs right?
can i overclock my cpu to reflect ddr2 800, meaning my processor would now be 3.4 ghz? does any of this make sense?

The highest your motherboard supports is DDR2800. Here is what i recomend.
for 4GB

for 8GB

To overclock Core 2 CPUs you cannot change the multiplier because its locked, you instead have to up the TRUE FSB.
If youre wanting to overclock here is a place to start.

is it better to go with the 4-4-4-12 timing for a few dollars more? i have heard that the lower timing is faster.. would i notice a difference? i have 2x 1 gig sticks of VALUE memory right now lol.. they run and 6-6-6-18 or something like that..
